What is Marle Hall?

Marle Hall is a residential outdoor education centre situated near Llandudno on the North Wales coast, on the edge of the Snowdonia National park.

The Centre is set within 35 acres of beautiful mixed woodland, much of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and includes some rare species of plant. From the top of the woods there are panoramic views over the Conwy Estuary to Snowdonia and Anglesey. Being in the rain shadow of the mountains means they have a lot of sun!

Marle Hall is non-profit making and part of Warwickshire Outdoor Education Service. Marle Hall provide a wide range of programmes for a variety of groups. Many of these come from within Warwickshire, but Marle Hall also cater for groups and individuals from all parts of the country. At Marle Hall, pupils learn outside the classroom through adventurous activities and environmental studies. There is an emphasis on emphasis on personal and social education, as well as links to the curriculum.

Marle Hall have over 40 years experience in developing and delivering safe and successful outdoor programmes. Their particular strengths are in three main areas:-

Friendly, welcoming and experienced staff: Whether it is the very experienced and highly qualified tutorial staff who work in partnership with visiting school group leaders to provide challenging and stimulating experiences to meet specific aims and outcomes and bring the curriculum to life; or the supportive, friendly and accommodating kitchen, domestic, and other support staff; everyone at Marle Hall works as a team to make our stay special and memorable. It really is a family atmosphere!

A wonderful location: North Wales boasts a great diversity of environmental study sites and a wonderful playground to have ‘real adventures’ in the real outdoors! Marle Hall is well located for access to all that the coastline and Snowdonia mountains have to offer, within easy driving distance from the centre.

Experiential learning and personal and social development: The staff at Marle Hall give pupils real responsibility for themselves, their actions and each other. At the end of a course everyone will know what it takes to co-operate within a team and what it takes to face a challenge.

Staffing: All of the tutorial staff employed at the Centre are highly qualified instructors with a breadth and depth of experience in the outdoor industry spanning many years. They will ensure that the experience you have at Marle Hall will be safe, educational and fun. They are all first aid trained and have an enhanced CRB/DBS clearance.

Equipment: All specialist equipment for every activity is provided by Marle Hall. This equipment meets relevant National and International safety standards and is regularly inspected, tested and replaced as necessary.

Managing risk: Managing risk is fundamental to everything we do at Marle hall. Each activity has been risk assessed in advance for each venue that we use. The instructors and tutorial staff then continue to manage risk on a minute by minute basis throughout the day, in line with the Centre's Operational Guidance document. The Centre also works within the remit of Warwickshire County Council's Outdoor Education guidelines, found in their Off-Site Activities Guidance document, available at every Warwickshire school.
